2nd Eye Surgery on Thursday

I am looking forward to my second cataract surgery in a few hours.

I had the same surgery on my left eye about a month ago and it made a very significant difference . . . and my left eye had always been my "weak eye" . . . but since the surgery I can see much better out of it than I can with my right eye.

So a similar improvement with this second cataract surgery should make things even better.

I could go with the old jokes here - "Eye eye things are looking up" and the like. Instead i'll wish you all the very best for now and the future.

Sounds like this will be very well worth undergoing.
Take care.

While the "prep" for the surgery takes a couple of hours, the surgery itself only takes about 20 minutes . . . and now I know (from the left eye) what will happen.

Most of the prep time is taken up with a series of three types of eye drops . . . to prep the eye for surgery. These drops are different from the three types of eye drops that I've been having to take four times a day for three days prior to surgery; and will have to take for some weeks after surgery.

I'll be conscious during the surgery, but won't be able to feel anything (thankfully) . . . although things do happen with my sight and there will be a short period of "nothing" (which is a bit disconcerting).

But the difference should be very marked . . . although it will take a few days before the dilation calms down enough for me to really appreciate it.

My thanks to all who are wishing me well. I should note that this is a VERY safe type of operation. Things almost never go wrong and the results are quite positive in virtually all cases.

Good luck with your next round, no doubt your life is going to brighten up considerably. I'm off for my last visit to the saw bones next week and with any luck Hesse-Kassoulet and the Oddfellows forum will be able to benefit appropriately.

all the best

Jeff,
Best of luck with the surgery. The good thing is that barring unforeseen circumstances you will know the post-op drill. My wife had both eyes done similarly several years back and wonders now why she ever waited. And when it's all over , just think of all the great painting ahead of you!
