(OT) Bad Day at Tree Shopping --

My dear wife and I have been "under the weather" lately. We both have sore backs.

Hers is because her sciatic nerve is really kicking up . . . and I have some more kidney gravel (i.e., very small kidney stones -- like sand) moving through my system.

But today I got sent out to find a tree for the holidays.

Well I really really don't like those thick pre-shaped trees. I'm sorry but to me they are too much like topiary (which I'm quite unfond of) . . . I want a natural tree.

So there I was aching back and all driving around through the rain trying to find a decent tree . . . I found some nice ones of course . . . but they were not only quite pricey, but their trunks were too thick for our tree base.

Then there were those 'jack pine' trees. I understand that they are quite fashionable . . . but they don't look right to me.

Anyway, hurting as I was, I finally found the tree pictured at the top of the column . . . and my darling bride tried to like it. She put lights on it and ornaments . . . and then came to me looking downcast saying, "I'm sorry, I know you like an open tree . . . but we can't even put a quarter of our ornaments on it."

So tomorrow we get to go tree shopping again. Anyone want a nice 'barely used' tree?

Did you try wrapping Linus's blanket around the base? ;-)
Sorry about you and your wife's backs. Mine acts up now and again so I know it can put a damper on things.

Who said a tree is just a tree? Clearly all trees are not created equal. As a fellow back sufferer, don't try to lift the heaviest tree you can find. Best wishes and happy holidays...Bill

I think that I need to clarify something here.

My back isn't 'out' or anything like that. It isn't strained either.

While the gravel is passing through my system where I feel the pain is in my lower back area . . . but it really isn't the back itself . . . although besides the pain, the muscles tire very quickly.

I don't have a great back . . . and I strain it from time to time . . . but right now it is the 'kidney gravel' that is hurting.

Hi Jeff,

We might want the tree, however the time to pick up will have to wait until after December 16th.

I think that the Snoopy Dog House winning decorations are also needed...more than the Linus Blanket! ;-)

Give me a call about the tree Jeff, we can see about getting it when we are back from the coming trip.

Hi Jeff,

I don't know, I think that tree has a potentially very nice Victorian look to it. Were I in your neck of the woods, I'd offer to swing by and pick it up tomorrow.

Best Regards,

Having had kidney stones and "gravel," I can sympathize with you. May it all pass quickly!

Oh! If I had a dollar for every tree disaster I've had with my various wives/girlfriends, I'd be rich...I'm right there with you!
